Presentation Formats

Participants wishing to present at Education That Pays For Itself 2016 have a wide range of formats to choose from.

Submitting a Proposal

Submission Instructions 

Please send session proposals including all the required information for the chosen format via email to proposals@educationthatpaysforitself.org

Confirmation of receipt of your submission will be sent via email normally within 48 hours.

Specific Requirements

1. Roundtables

All proposals to present within the roundtable format should include:

1) Title of proposed presentation
2) Name, organization & contact information
3) Conference topic to be addressed
4) Presentation description in under 150 words

1) Title of proposed presentation
The title should be descriptive, action-oriented and not exceed eight to ten words. If your session is selected, this title will be used in the Conference Program and conference promotional materials. Please note that the conference organizers reserve the right to modify your proposed title for clarity, consistency and impact.

2) Name & contact information
Please include your full name, organization, title, email address, phone, and full mailing address, as well as your Skype address if you have one.

3) Conference topic to be addressed
Select from the twelve conference topics listed on the Program page

4) Presentation description in under 150 words
Provide a brief description of your proposed presentation. If your presentation is selected, this description will be used in the Conference Program and conference promotional materials. It should not exceed 250 words. The description should generate excitement about the session and should include i) a brief description of the areas to be covered ii) how these are linked to the conference topic chosen, and iii) whether the presentation includes any hands-on activities, exercises, and hand-outs

Audiovisual equipment availability is limited and will be offered for Roundtable presentations on a first-come first served basis.

 

2. Words of Wisdom

This is a plenary session format which challenges presenters using only 15 photos displaying for 20 seconds each to convey their insights, solutions, personal stories.

Proposals to present within the Words of Wisdom format should consist of:

1) Title of proposed presentation
2) Name, organization & contact information
3) Conference topic to be addressed
4) Five main points of learning (see below)

The five main points of learning should be sent as a bullet-point list with each point addressed in only one sentence.

If your proposal is accepted we will provide more detailed information about how to put together your 15 photo slide show.

3. Consultancy Clinic

All proposals to present within the Consultancy Clinic format should include:

1) Name, organization & contact information
2) Relevant conference topic
3) Summary of the challenge of which advice is requested (in under 150 words)

Note: While we would like all proposals to try and link to the conference topics we recognize that these may not cover some challenges which might still be very relevant to other conference participants. Please do not let this prevent you from sending us your key challenge.

Audiovisual equipment will not be available for the Consultancy Clinic session.

 

4. Video Showcase 2016

All proposals to present within the Video Showcase format should include:

1) Name, organization & contact information
2) Web-link to the video online (e.g. YouTube), or
3) Summary of the video content & length (in under 150 words)
4) Details of any restriction of copyright or usage of the material

Points to note:

  • Video showcase proposals do not have to be linked to the conference topics
  • Length of videos is limited to a maximum of 10 minutes
  • Presenters are invited to provide a two-minute introduction to themselves and the video before the screening
  • Copyright permitting, videos will be posted on the conference website to allow people unable to attend to benefit from them

 

Audio visual equipment

Audiovisual equipment including a projector and sound system will be available for presentations throughout the conference. However as availability is limited, where there are presentations running concurrently, use of these facilities will be offered on a first-come first served basis.
